I get asked a lot about supplements and creatine is always the drug I recommend to people. Although it is commonly used and accepted, there are still plenty of people puzzled by it, so let me break it down.

Creatine is the most sought-after nutrient and the one that really helps your athletic success and recovery. Sure, a whey protein supplement can help you build muscle, but without a supplement, you can also get your protein from food, and be fine. Creatine supplements will benefit you enormously whatever your diet might be.

One of the big myths is that creatine helps you hold water, and when people want to lose weight they are afraid to take it away. Although you may retain the tiniest bit of water (you won't even notice), it won't make you bloat into a big blueberry. Creatine helps to draw water into your muscle cells and makes them expand. It will not fill your body with excess water, suddenly.

I hear women too often afraid to take creatine because they don't want to put too much muscle on. You know, the old "I don't want to get too bulky." Creatine helps your body generate more ATP, which helps your gym performance and helps recovery. Whatever your fitness level, getting more time and faster recovery is something we should all be able to get behind!

It's also worth remembering that you don't need to take your creatine particular period-just take it at a time that works for you to keep it regular.

I swear by creatine, overall. It's not a supplement that you'll "feel" working, and you won't notice a huge change taking it for a week. But remaining consistent with your intake, in the long run, will completely help your workouts and recovery!
