Other celebrities who tried to fast for long hours
Only recently, it was the Greek god Hrithik Roshan of Bollywood's own who discussed how he could run for 23 hours at a time as a way to test himself. For his odd dietary habits, his preference for fasting, and most notably, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has always been in the press, restricting his food consumption to just 5 days a week.

Is it possible to fast for long hours and is it safe?
It is not just the celebrities who attempt this challenge. A lot of communities traditionally observe long hour fasts and come back with therapeutic benefits. It does make one think, though- is this really safe?
Long fasts can help give your system a good clean up aside from beating the cravings. Medically, this is defined as 'autophagy' - clearing up any garbage or bad calories and contaminants from the body and can also contain strong cell regeneration properties. Mentally, it may help you repair your food relationship, or encourage conscientious eating, and can even help you alleviate depression or messy eating habits.

Does losing weight work? What about the inconvenience?
Since the body is filled with calories, many say this can be a good way of losing weight. If anything, long fasts can be a way to get into ketosis faster and the body adapts to use fat for fuel in the longer period. This can help those looking for quick weight loss but it does come with a number of precautions of its own. If you don't follow it properly, there are chances that you will eventually gain the weight back post the fast.
Just as you learn the benefits, keeping in mind the cons of such long fasting hours is also important.
Firstly, this is not meant for everyone. Fasting isn't a cure for miracles. Know this- the hours you go without food or water, the health consequences are greater. Fasting may have drawbacks including nausea, bloating, dizziness, or extreme hunger or fatigue, too.

Who should avoid fasting and How to fast the right way?
People with underlying health problems such as type 1 diabetes, low B.P., pregnant women, or a history of eating disorders should vary from trying out dietary fads and focus on getting healthy nutrition. Fasting can be helpful if you do it in a rightful way, experts say. Dry fasting that involves you to skip out both water and food is not the most helpful kind because it can leave you without any hydration source.
Again, during the fasting period, one must be watchful not to miss out on vitamins and nutrients. It is critical that you continue to nourish yourself. To make up for depleting sodium and potassium levels in the body, juice, low-calorie beverages, electrolytes can be had in between.
If you need to fast, try first and slowly, and gradually getting acquainted with short fasts, challenge yourself to speed purposefully.
