You can work through some incredibly demanding workouts, but once you add sliders to the mix, they become strong muscle quaking feats. It is because the sliders test your stability and trigger your muscles further for a deeper burn. You have to try the wheelbarrow push-up, a type of push-up with sliders that will make you want to cry if you are looking to challenge yourself with a bold combo of a really difficult exercise move that incorporates sliders.

Designed by SLT, the Pilates-inspired fitness studio renowned for its Megaformer exercises, the wheelbarrow push-up is a variant of the OG exercise that works just as well on your upper body as it strengthens your heart. "It's a rare at-home SLT move that uses a glider, which was invented by one of our coaches, Rachel Begelman," says Amanda Freeman, founder of SLT which CEO. "It's a great workout that operates equally for the heart and upper body, and at once lights up the lats, triceps, and abs."

This specific push-up involves pressing forward slowly on a slider with one arm at a time while the body stays in a changed push-up position. Your other arm does the traditional push-up movement whilst you do this. You then move weapons, all while still holding your body. Freeman states that this is a hybrid exercise that combines two classic SLT movements in one, resulting in the burn being doubled. "Compound movements like this result in many muscle groups participating, thereby amplifying the stress factor and increasing calorie burning," she says.

Since the push-up of the wheelbarrow allows you to hold your body still throughout the long, gliding push and pulling of your arms, your entire heart will be fired up during. There's a lot of friction happening when you make the pass, which is why all of your stabilizer muscles — especially in your abdominals — will feel like they're on fire. So it essentially acts as an exercise involving killer abs and arms.

Start on your hand and knees and place a pad, towel, or sheet of paper under one hand to do it properly. Keep your hips still as you move away from your body with one hand, while the opposite arm bends down to push forward. Go up from the push-up as you move the front hand back, then turn the glider to the other side and repeat. Try trying to do this for 90 seconds.

"The goal is to keep your heart engaged in defending your back, and going gradually and steadily," Freeman says. "If you feel it in your back, lift your ass up a little bit in the air." If you need more of a modification, she recommends skipping the push-up entirely and sticking with just the wheelbarrow — which involves being in a modified push-up position and slowly moving both hands (both on gliders) outwards at the same time and then pulling them backward.
